Your Home And Your Store

A home is a special place. As such it is no wonder that people take such care and go through great pains to make it comfortable and well suited to their taste. This is all to be expected because a house is not just a place where you sleep and eat, but a place that represents you.

This is something that all people can relate to. But in the case of a business people seem not to bear this in mind in quite the same way. Often times you might go into a store and be shock at how unclean and unorganized the place is. This is because the owner does not think that this store is something personal in the same sense that he does his house. My argument today is that people who care about themselves and their homes inevitably end up caring about their business as well. This is not the say that stores that are unorganized are not cared for by their owners but rather, that they are not cared for in the right way.

If a person thinks his store as simply a way to make a living then the store is bound to look every different then the store of a person who views his store as an extension of him or her, self.

It is not only that the first person is inevitably not going to be as dedicated, but his business is in almost all cases not going to reach its potential. Were as the second person cares so much for his business (not only because of money but because it is a representation of himself) that he is going to go the extra mile to make things work.

If she owns a boutique she is going to make sure that the mannequins and dress forms work with the wall paper and floor plan. She is going to make sure the place is clean and organized.

These are the kinds of things that store owner need to keep in mind. You can’t just invest money into your store, you have to invest yourself! Your store has to command you attention as much as your home. To do things rite you have to be ready to make sacrifices, and sometime you yourself have to be the sacrifice.
