Nutcrackers and Mannequins

This is going to be a short article about the holidays.  The holidays are a time of year that is dedicated not only to the specific reasons for a specific holiday, but to rest, introspection, relaxation, and family bonding. These are some of the things that that help make people see what is important to them in life. It goes without saying that because of these reasons, people take these times seriously and invest a lot of time and energy in preparing their homes and families for these joined experiences.

It might come as a bit of a shock in light of my praise of the holidays, but I’m an atheist.  I must say that it is not very common amongst people who share my perspective in life to praise anything related to or connected with religion. This would put the holidays on the “not cool” list.

As for me, I think it perhaps more enlightened to acknowledge the benefits of anything regardless of their origin. And because of this way of looking at things I find it flat out impossible to deny the positive effects of holiday celebration.

I’m not going to spend too much time going into the thick of the arguments ether about religion or the benefits of the holidays, what I will do, and I hope it will suffice to say, is stand firmly on the side of tangible benefit for people regardless of where it comes from.

On that note I will share some interesting and creative way that I saw people in my neighborhood use their talents to really make the holidays stand out is a very beautiful way.

I was people use mannequins all dressed up in nutcracker costumes. There was a whole nutcracker theme that really captured my imagination. I take the time to write about this specific theme because it was the most extravagant and was the pride of our block. It is things like these that really make the holiday “spirit” come to life for me. The creative use of simple mannequins really goes a long way.
