Getting Investors Inerested

There is a struggle that is experienced by anyone who wants to start a business that does not have all of the money he needs to get it off the ground, namely investors. There are many cases of people who have friends and family who will help out by lending money interest free, or there are banks that will loan you the money assuming you are willing to borrow and take the risk that is associated with borrowing.

But there are some people who I am addressing myself to now, who to not have these kinds of resources and are not willing or can’t get a big enough load from the bank to get things started. The question then becomes for them, how to get investors?

Well the first thing that I will say to anyone who is trying to anything started is not to wait for the money, but rather, to try to get things going by putting in many hours of work, and doing everything that can be done for a specific project that requires time as opposed to money.

That is the first step, first of all in getting your idea on its way to fruition, and secondly the work is something that will make your investors feels more comfortable looking into your ideas knowing that you have invested what you could for your end.

You also have to have a clear picture of what you want from them. I’m not just talking about money that is obvious; I’m talking about what you want their money for specifically.

For example, I was trying to get a clothing store off the ground and I needed money to redesign the place I was renting. I know it does not sound like a lot of money, but it requires a lot of capitol to get done. When I went to my investors I walked them through exactly what I wanted, from the ceiling lights to the paint, down to the mannequins and dress forms I needed to really make my store and products compelling and memorable to my customers. And when I got the investment I needed I let them know that I was for example, buying mannequins for this price from this and thins place and dress forms for that place and so on.

This gives your investors’ confidence and a sense of security knowing that you are not being lost with their money and that you are looking around for good prices and so on.

To summarize; you must convey and actually, be responsible and fully invested yourself in a project in order to get someone interested in what you are trying to accomplish. I think it extremely important to have all of this in mind, and I assure you based on my personal experience, that it will pay off sooner than later.
